Macrovision Information

Some versions of SoniClear RecorderPro and MeetingPro are "wrapped" with a program to manage electronic distribution and payment. The technology for the wrapper is called SafeCast and is provided by Macrovision.

In the event that you need to uninstall the SoniClear software, use the Add/Remove programs control panel to remove the SafeCast shared components. This removes all active components of SafeCast that might remain after the protected application is deleted. Macrovision does not recommend removing components any other way, since one runs the risk of disabling some other protected application by accident.

The Add/Remove operation does not remove the hidden "C_Dilla" folder that contains the license files. Those files are not removed by an uninstall because they constitute the digital "proof" that a product has been paid for, activated, or otherwise authorized for use.

Some important points about the files contained in the C_Dilla folder:

  • These files don't do anything. They just sit there, waiting for an application to read them. They take up very little room, and are not harmful in any way.
  • The name "C-Dilla" does NOT mean something bad. Any internet rumors to the contrary are completely false.
