Software Recovery Procedures |

SoniClear products are protected by copy protection technology. To recover software after a system crash or other types of system-related problems, you will need to follow the procedure that is appropriate for the product you purchased. Element 5 Ecommerce Purchases If you purchased the product online through the Element 5 ecommerce service provider, the software was "wrapped" with a program to manage electronic distribution and payment. The system that does the actual copy protection of the software is licensed from Macrovision (see Macrovision Support Page). Software wrapped with this system will revert back to a "Trial" version if the special copy protection information is damaged or deleted from the computer disk drive. This can happen from a system crash. It can also occur if the copy protection files have been removed for any reason. The following information will help you with restoring the software. If you need additional help with this process, you will need to contact Element 5 for assistance (see Support Page for contact information). Reinstall Software The first step to restoring the software is to reinstall the originally wrapped copy of the software. You probably received the software by downloading it from the SoniClear website. If you have lost the original copy of the downloaded software, you will need to download the version you purchased from one of the following links:
Reauthorize Software After a system crash (or any other removal of the copy protection files), the software will function as if it were in Trial mode. Usually this will result in preventing you from accessing the software, as the trial period will have expired. When you originally installed the software on the computer and authorized it through Element 5, an identification of your computer was generated and stored in the Element 5 database to allow for reauthorization of the software. If you are reinstalling on the same computer and have not replaced the system disk drive or made other significant changes to the hardware, the computer identification code stored in the Element 5 service will allow the software to be reauthorized easily. To do this, run the SoniClear software. This will display the Element 5 Trial options screen. Select the "Purchase product / activate purchased product" option and click the Continue button. This will connect your browser to the purchase and authorization website at Element 5. Follow the instructions displayed and enter the POP code that was sent to you originally by Element 5 in an email shortly after you made your online purchase. Once this is completed, your software will again be fully accessible. Obtaining POP Code If you cannot locate the original POP code sent by Element 5, you will need to contact Element 5 directly. Trio Systems does not have any record of your code and therefore cannot provide it to you. See the SoniClear Support Page for Element5 contact information. Installing on a New Computer If you are installing the software on a new computer because of a system crash or a need to upgrade, the SoniClear software purchase includes a single "spare" installation authorization. This will allow you to move the software to a new system one time. In event of future system failures on the new computer, you will be able to reinstall and reauthorize without needing to purchase more copies. You may not use the "spare" authorization to install and run the software on more than one computer. Additional copies of the software can be purchased by following the steps provided by the Element 5 Trial screen, or from the SoniClear Purchase Page. Spyware Issues Spy removal software can cause the copy protection information to be removed from your system. For example, the SpySweeper product from webroot.com tags the "CDILLA" copy protection files as spyware. If you do not override the default action of the software, these files will be removed, and your software will no longer run. The Macrovision copy protection system is not a spyware program, so you are safe overriding the spy program behavior by allowing those files to remain on your system. See the Macrovision Support Page for more information. Software Purchased on CD If you purchased the SoniClear software with physical delivery on CD, the software can be reinstalled from the original CD. You cannot reinstall from a copy of just the installation program itself, as the installer is "locked" to the installation CD, which is required to complete the process. In come cases, SoniClear software protected using the Element 5 system is delivered to customers on CD. In this case, reinstall the software from the original CD and then follow the Element 5 reinstallation procedures listed above. Software Protected by USB Key If you are using a version of the software that is authorized using a USB Key device, you will need to reinstall using the original CD. In the event of a lost USB key, you will need to purchase a new copy of the software. |
